Connecting with our school

Connecting with our school

It is important to us that we work in partnership with parents and carers. Communication between home and school is key to this.

We recognise however that it can often be difficult communicating with teachers because they have a very full timetable; and that parents and carers also have very busy lives.

We will always work to get back to your enquiries within a reasonable timeframe. We aim to do this within 3 workings days. If your matter is urgent we will get back to you as quickly as possible.

Our school provides regular updates about what is happening at our school in a number of ways. Families are encouraged to read our School Communication Policy  for the best ways to get in contact with our school and ways to connect with us.

Parent Portal

Parent Portal is a secure online platform used to share student information between you and your child’s teachers.

Use Parent Portal to:

  • get push notifications when your child’s teachers post to the newsfeed
  • tell us if your child is sick or explain an absence
  • book parent/teacher interviews
  • receive academic reports
  • receive our school newsletter
  • make payments
  • access our school’s calendar and your child’s student timetable.

Parent Portal is used by all ACT public schools from preschool through to year 12. If you have children at other ACT public schools, you can access their information from one account.

To access Parent Portal via a web browser on your mobile phone, tablet or computer, use this Parent Portal access link.

You can also access Parent Portal through the Sentral for Parents app. Download the app from the App Store or Google Play Store.

Access to Parent Portal and Sentral for Parents app is via your ACT Digital Account. If you still need to register, use this Parent Portal access link and log in or create your ACT Digital Account. You will need your access key, which you should have received by email. Please contact the Front Office if you need your access key resent.

Communication Guidelines for Families:

How to Reach Out for Questions and Support

Our school values open, respectful, and professional communication between families and staff. Please follow the process outlined below to ensure your questions and concerns are addressed effectively.

For Learning and Wellbeing Matters

If you have questions or concerns related to your child’s learning or well-being, please follow these steps in sequence:

  1. Classroom Teacher
    • Begin by contacting your child’s classroom teacher.
    • They have the most direct understanding of your child’s learning and can provide insights or support.
    • Your child’s teacher can also direct you to the most appropriate staff member for complex matters.
  2. Executive Teacher
    • If further discussion or follow-up is required with a member of the staff
  3. Deputy Principal
    • The next point of contact for ongoing or complex concerns is the Deputy Principal.
  4. Sector Principal
    • If necessary, the Deputy Principal may escalate the matter to the Sector Principal, who oversees the broader management of the school sector.
  5. Executive Principal
    • The Executive Principal is the final point of contact for unresolved or significant matters requiring high-level resolution.

We kindly ask families to follow these steps to ensure the appropriate staff member can assist effectively.

For Administrative Matters

Please get in touch with the Front Office directly for questions or issues related to administrative matters. This includes:

Our friendly administrative team will assist or direct your enquiry to the appropriate staff member.

Communication During Working Hours

Our staff prioritise their attention on students during core learning times. We kindly ask that families communicate with teachers and staff during standard working hours.

Professional and Respectful Behaviour

Our school is a professional workspace, and we ask that all interactions with staff and other community members remain respectful and courteous.

We are here to work with you to support your child, and maintaining mutual respect ensures we can achieve the best outcomes together.
