Middle School Information Nights for 2016

Posted on 29 Oct 2015

Those of you in year 5 and in year 6 at our feeder schools may be thinking about your move to Middle School next year and wondering what it will be like. This year we are making some changes to the transitions for Middle School at Kingsford Smith. We will still be holding our day visits towards the end of the term for those who will be new to middle school next year so that you can get a feel of what it will be like when you get here. We will be holding 2 information nights in the school Library. There will be a short presentation of what to expect from each of our faculties followed by question and answer sessions. If your child will be attending Middle School at Kingsford Smith for the first time next year (2016) it is an opportunity for you to meet some of the teachers and get any questions you have answered. *

What to do during Magpie swooping season

Posted on 23 Sep 2015

For most of the year magpies are a wonderful part of life in the bush capital. If there is a swooping bird in your neighbourhood you can take these simple measures to protect yourself. Wear a hat. Wear glasses to protect your eyes. Walk your bike and don't run. Take an umbrella on your walk. You can also watch the magpie when you are going through its territory as they are less likely to swoop if you are keeping your eye on them. And always keep your dog on a lead when walking through a magpie's territory. If possible, take a different route.
