CANCELLATION OF BIG SPLASH (Year 10)

Dear Parents and Carers,

Due to a lack of numbers and the chance of poor weather, Year 10 Big Splash that was to be held on Tuesday November 28, 2017 will now be cancelled.

As per usual, it is a normal school day with the year 10 students expected to attend.  To replace this activity, we will now be holding the following program:

· Movie Morning with popcorn

· 2 hour board game challenge with Pizza and a Drink

· Sports afternoon with prizes

The cost of the day has not changed, and if you have changed your mind and would now like to send your child to school, they can bring $15 with them on the day.  As this event is now at school, no permission note will be required.

Inclusive Education Programs 2018

Inclusive Education Programs in 2018

KSS will be implementing a new Inclusive Education Model in 2018.  The new model has been based on current research in disability education as well as from learning about best practice at other schools in Canberra and interstate.   We invite all parents and carers, particularly those with a child who has a disability to attend an information session at 5.30pm on Thursday 30 November.  The information session will be held in the school library.

The information session will focus on answering the following questions:

-          Why is the model being changed?

-          What is inclusive education?

-          What are the benefits of inclusive education?

-          What will my child’s day look like?

-          How will my child be prepared for the change?

-          Will my child still have access to a small group learning environment?

-          What changes in language can I expect?

Further to this, you might have some questions about the new model and we welcome receiving these questions before the information session.  Please email simon.barker@ed.act.edu.au any questions you might have.  Alternatively, you are welcome to send a note addressed to Simon Barker to the school front office.  We will endeavour to answer your questions during the presentation, ensuring confidentiality.

Please contact me for any further information.
